Melissa Whitmore, 8, of Hanover, uses quarters to fill one square foot of the gym floor at the Richard W. Black Recreation and Senior Center in Hanover yesterday. The town’s Parks and Recreation Department collected more than $900 in quarters over the past two months to help pay for the Hayes Farm Recreation Project, which will improve the current ice skating rink and develop open field space next to the Etna Library. The project will also be financed with $14,500 in grant funds from the town, $5,000 from the Byrne Foundation and $4,625 from last year’s Pig and Wolf statue auction.
