Nick Carver of Miller Construction helps to steady an I-beam north of the Norwich exit on Interstate 91 yesterday morning. A tractor-trailer driven by Gary Richards of Eastern Freight was northbound on the interstate when a car, attempting to pass, lost control, Richards said. Braking, Richards skidded into the median and the 38,000-pound beam slid off the trailer. Workers from Miller Construction loaded the beam onto another truck.
